NATCHEZ — If you receive a phone call about extending your cars’ warranty, it could be a scam.
One Miss-Lou resident received such a call and was being pressured for information on the vehicle. The caller hung up when asked how they got the phone number.
Strange phone calls like this should always be ignored, said Jamie Howard, with the Better Business Bureau of Mississippi.
“If it doesn’t seem right, then call us,” she said. “People should never give out their Social Security number, or any kind of banking information over the phone.
“People usually can tell when they’re being scammed.”
The BBB gets all sorts of calls about scams, and has seen similar plots before, Howard said.
If someone ever has a question about a business they should call the BBB for information, she said.
