Great news saw no age limit

It was a week to party in Natchez, and for the rest of the Miss-Lou, there was reason to celebrate as well.

Let’s review some of the week’s good news.

4The Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual dinner in gala-style this year. The group invited the governor down and brought in a band. The night proved a great time for the movers and shakers of our community to relax and socialize.

The changes to the dinner’s format were for the better, and we are thankful the chamber hosts such a night.

4Fourth-grade students at McLaurin Elementary have taken up shipbuilding, and their work has quite a few admirers. The students built models of the Titanic after a lesson on the great ship. Now, their work is on display all over town.

4Children across the Miss-Lou had plenty to do this week, from attending Conservation Field Day, to learning about bats and even seeing the debut performance of Captain Natchez.

All three kid-geared events provide great outlets for our children to get away from the TV and into real life. Thanks go to the Adams County Extension Service, Historic Jefferson College and the Downtown Development Association, respectively, for hosting each event.

The coming week is a big one as the Great Mississippi River Balloon Race flies into town. So, get ready for the party to continue.
