Natchez has opportunity to recycle

In less than two weeks, the Natchez area will have an opportunity to be a little more kind to Mother Earth.
After months of work by a group of volunteers, the area soon will have the ability to recycle materials locally.
As is often the case, the private sector came to the rescue in the form of Natchez Metals’ owner Bubba Kaiser, who has agreed to start accepting dropped off recycled goods from residents.
We applaud Kaiser’s willingness to try out the venture and see how it goes. Hopefully, it will be a painless, but profitable one for him so that he’ll continue offering the service.
The move is a good “next step” in the overall effort to reduce the amount of waste put into landfills each year.
Now that a location to put recyclables has been established, the volunteer group is turning its efforts onto plans to promote the benefits of recycling through educational pursuits.
Ultimately, we hope that our public leaders will pick up the can, as it were, and run with it.
Progressive, modern communities have curbside recycling.
And our community should, too. Having a place to take recyclables makes recycling possible.
Having recycling become convenient makes recycling probable.
