ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — Central Louisiana gave President Bush a warm welcome, despite some doubts about his financial bailout plan.
Hundreds of people lined the streets of downtown Alexandria on Monday to wave at the president and snap pictures as his motorcade swept through. Bush met privately with local business leaders to discuss the economic climate.
In interviews with the Associated Press, Alexandria residents said they don’t like the government bailout of financial institutions. But none blamed the president. Most said Congress and Wall Street are the real culprits.
