NATCHEZ — A burglar got away with cash and a large stash of Newport cigarettes early Tuesday morning when the suspect reportedly burglarized Tobacco Mart on Government Fleet Road.

The Natchez Police Department responded to an alarm at the store at 2:40 a.m.

Police found the door open but no sign of a suspect. Store owner James Myers arrived at the scene and confirmed an unknown amount of cash was missing from the register drawer and several cartons of cigarettes were gone.

Myers reportedly was unable to immediately operate the security camera to view the burglary.
