CLAYTON — Services for Michael M. Sherbia, 55, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Alexandria, La., will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. L.B. Oliver officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Sherbia was born Jan. 1, 1955, in Ferriday, the son of Jesse and Laura Davis Sherbia. He was employed by Concordia Parish Detention Center as a prison guard.
Mr. Sherbia also served in the U.S. Air Force from June 7, 1973, to June 6, 1977, during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his father; his grandmother, Maggie Johnson; and one sister, Carol Curry.
Survivors include his wife, Linda K. White Sherbia; one son, Derrick Brown; his mother, all of Ferriday; one stepdaughter, Lauren Lewis and husband, Johnathon, of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Jessie Sherbia Jr. and wife, Pam, of Marino Valley, Calif., Bobby Sherbia of Los Angeles and Ronald Martin of Cartersville, Ga.; and five sisters, Patricia Sherbia, Lydia Evans, Kathy Martin, Earlene Williams and husband, Robert, all of Ferriday, and Yvonne Martin of Cartersville.
