Animal cruelty is cowardly response

On the night of Nov. 11, my 5 pound Chihuahua slipped away from my home.
He was the much loved pet of my grandchildren. Within hours, our Baxter, was found mortally wounded.
He was shot dead, apparently while lying on the ground. The high powered bullet entered his side and exited his neck in a bloody mass.
There can be no logical reason or excuse for this vicious attack. This pet was not aggressive. He weighed only 5 pounds. He was a tiny, docile children’s pet.
He was hardly a threat to anyone.
The person who perpetrated this repulsive, illegal and unwarranted action is to be pitied. He or she certainly manifested an ignorant, mean, vicious, hateful, cruel and unprovoked action against a tiny animal. Granted, the animal was out of its pen and in another person’s yard.
However, there can be no excuse for this cowardly and reprehensible act.
The incident — which occurred inside the city limits — has been reported to the humane society, the police department and all other interested animal protection groups.
The suspects in this matter will be closely monitored. Prayerfully, the guilty party will be identified. Then, perhaps justice will prevail.
Shame on you, dog killer. You are a coward and a repulsive low life. You have no conscience or concern for others. May God have mercy on you.
Shame.
