Youth football league had best year

The fourth year of Miss-Lou Youth Football has ended and it has been a good year. The league had 21 teams in three age divisions, a record number of teams.
The under-8, under-10 and under-12 leagues all had seven teams. Special thanks go out to Rudi Wilson, Billy Calcote, Billy Ray Farmer and Jeff Upton for allowing the fine squads from Trinity and ACCS to participate in our league.
The referees, led by Carl and Chuck Fuqua, are to be commended for keeping the sometimes over-zealous coaches and players in line. Patty Morris, Darlene McElwee, Nicholas Johnston, Jackie Johnston and all the other fine people who helped keep the games going deserve our gratitude.
Also, coach Dee Faircloth and Mrs. Barbara Crum provided us with the facilities and the training of cheerleaders, helping us provide a first-class experience for all involved. The fast-pitch players’ help in the concession stand was greatly appreciated.
Next, the Concordia Parish Recreation Board, District 3, is to be commended for helping in the purchase of equipment to keep the fees low so more kids can play. Also, our sponsors provide funds to allow us to run a quality program. We have numerous sponsors and their hometown support is greatly appreciated.
The Delta Bank Panthers, McDonald’s Cowboys, and the Ferriday Falcons each won their respective super bowls Saturday and are to be congratulated.
But the real winners are the players and coaches who dedicated their time and efforts to learning and playing football. The game of football teaches many life lessons and the players and coaches are better people today for their experience this season. Thanks again to all involved and we look forward to next year.
