WOODVILLE — Darius Knox led three Wilkinson County players in double figures with 15 points as the Wildcats defeated the Natchez High Bulldogs 58-50 Tuesday night.

Wilkinson County took advantage of a Natchez High team that was without some of its players due to football. But it was not easy.

Natchez High played well enough to take a 15-11 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 28-25 lead at halftime. But the lack of depth took its toll on the Bulldogs in the second half.

Wilkinson County (1-1) outscored Natchez High 18-11 at the end of the third quarter to take a 43-39 lead and then had a 15-11 advantage in the fourth quarter.

John Moore and Devin Fosselman each scored 10 points for the Wildcats. Jeremy McMorris scored a game-high 16 points to lead Natchez High (4-3) while Brandon Holden had 13 points and Kenny Jackson had 12 points.

Block 64, Tensas Parish 54

ST. JOSEPH, La. — Landon Harbor and Jerome Jefferson each scored 17 points to help give K.G. Watkins his first win in his first game as Block’s new head coach as the Bears defeated the Panthers, a team he coached earlier this decade.

Block won the game despite playing fewer players than Tensas Parish did. The Bears outscored the Panthers in each of the first three quarters.

“I played just six players. I have nine players out for football. I had a makeshift group together,” Watkins said. “We ran our offense. We ran our defense. I think Tensas dressed 15 players and they played eight players.”

Greg Clark had 12 points and Corey Brown had 10 points for Tensas Parish.

Centreville 54, Oak Forest 44

CLINTON, La. — Centreville’s Jamie Dezendorf was an unstoppable force for the Tigers Tuesday at the Silliman Shootout as he led all scorers with 36 points as they defeated the Yellow Jackets.

Thanks to Dezendorf as well as Blake Babel, who had 10 points, Centreville (1-0) jumped out to a 15-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and then had a 13-point lead at halftime.

But Oak Forest, led by D. Bankston and B. Bannos, cut the lead to eight points at the end of the third quarter. However, Centreville ended all thoughts of a comeback win by outscoring Oak Forest 16-14 in the fourth quarter. Bankston led the Yellow Jackets with 22 points and Bannos had 17 points.

Centreville will take on the winner of the Trinity Episcopal/Bowling Green game Thursday at 5:15 p.m.

Vidalia 69, Sicily Island 62

SICILY ISLAND, La. — Quartrell Thomas led a balanced scoring attack with 18 points as the Vikings held on to defeat the Tigers Tuesday night despite a 27-point effort by Sicily Island’s Karlos Gray

Even though Vidalia (1-0) won by just seven points, the Vikings outscored the Tigers in the first, third and fourth quarters. Torrie Dixon had 13 points, Gary Stewart added 10 points and Jacob McGraw chipped in with nine points for Vidalia.

Alex James finished with 11 points and Deon Dunbar had 10 points for Sicily Island.

Franklin Parish 69, Ferriday 60

WINNSBORO, La. — After a sluggish first half, Franklin Parish took control of the game in the second half as the Patriots rallied to defeat the Trojans, denying first-year head coach Glenn Henderson his first win.

Both teams couldn’t get much done offensively in the first quarter and the result was an 8-8 tie. Ferriday outscored Franklin Parish 19-18 in the second quarter for a 27-26 halftime lead. But the Patriots, led by R. Sims, Johnson and T. Wins, outscored the Trojans 19-13 in the pivotal third quarter for a 45-40 lead.

Sims led all scorers with 22 points while Johnson had 20 points and Wins had 10 points. D. Garrison and D. Lewis led Ferriday (0-1) with 14 points each. C. Robinson added 12 points and L. Pryor contributed with 10 points.

LaSalle 44, Monterey 30

MONTEREY, La. — The second and third quarters proved to be the difference in this game as the Tigers defeated the Wolves Tuesday night.

LaSalle led Monterey (3-6) by just one point at the end of the first quarter, but that would be as close as the Wolves would get the rest of the game. The Tigers outscored the Wolves 13-7 in the second quarter and 11-3 in the third quarter.

Jacob Roark led LaSalle with 13 points. White had 12 points and Smith had 11 points. Monterey was led in scoring by Austin Lipsey with 12 points.

Parklane 69, WCCA 44

MCCOMB — Blake Brown scored a game-high 21 points while Nick Penn and Blake Rhodus added 10 points each as the Pioneers rolled to a 25-point win over the Rams Tuesday night.

Despite the efforts of Todd Gonda, Luke Whitaker and Tip McKenzie, who finished with 14, 12 and 11 points, respectively, the Rams were no match for the Class AAA Pioneers on this night.

WCCA (3-1) fell behind 16-6 to Parklane after one quarter of play and never was able to get back in the ball game.

Loyd Star 85, Cathedral 33

BROOKHAVEN — Four Loyd Star players scored in double figures as the Hornets scored 31 first-quarter points and cruised from that point in a 52-point win over the Green Wave Tuesday night.

Glenn Thomas and Deandre Butler led Loyd Star (3-0) with 15 points each. The Hornets completely dominated the first quarter en route to a commanding 31-3 lead. By halftime they enjoyed a 53-14 lead.

Collin Hammons led Cathedral (0-3) with 12 points and Carl Hammitte had 10 points.
