FERRIDAY — Services for Pauline Carter, 86, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Heritage Manor Health and Rehab Center in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Freddie Schiele officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mariah Church Cemetery in Frogmore under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Carter was born June 9, 1925, in Frogmore, the daughter of Augland and Sally Green Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom Carter Sr.; one son, Tom Carter Jr.; and one daughter, Rosie Higgs.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph Carter and wife, Mildred, and Percy Carter, all of Ferriday, and Charles Carter; two daughters, Sally Barrow and Carolyn Bates, all of Richmond, Calif.; one sister, Dafney Watson of Ferriday; 41 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
