Music to warm hearts Sunday

Let’s celebrate Advent with lessons and carols at 5 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church.
This is the 18th annual lessons and carols service.
Advent is the season of expectation and should be the quiet time of anticipation that precedes the 12 days of Christmas, which, believe it or not, starts on Christmas Day and goes through the New Year.
What a wonder it is to know that a baby is coming.
It’s a joy to prepare for this special birth of our Lord Jesus. How do we do this at Trinity Church?
We read from scripture the passage of God’s people from darkness to light; we alternate scripture lessons with carols old and new like “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” and “Lo, he comes with clouds descending,” the great hymn of expectation and joy and the wonderful movement of God’s people from darkness in the West to light in the East through the redemption provided to us by our Lord Jesus Christ.
Plan to attend this beautiful service of anticipation and joy, and then join us in the Parish Hall for a reception.
And this isn’t all folks. At 7 p.m. the Alcorn State University choir will give a concert at St. Mary Basilica.
You won’t want to miss these special events on the same night.
Prepare for Christmas in your heart and experience joy to the world.
