STAMPLEY — Services for Irene “Rena” Norton, 68, of Roxie, who died Sunday, July 10, 2011, at her residence, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Stampley.
Burial will follow a the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mrs. Norton was born March 26, 1943, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Leon Sr. and Eva Stampley Carter. She served on the Usher Board at Pine Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Norton; one foster son, Mark Curtis Stampley; one sister, Ora Dell Stampley; and two brothers, Lee Edward Carter and Leroy Stampley Sr.
Survivors include one loving daughter, Eva Norton; one grandson, Davion Norton, both of Fayette; seven sisters, Azelia Shelby of Chicago, Vivian Wade of Racine, Wis., Willie Mae Stampley and husband, Jessie Jr., Doris Carr, Diane Bailey and husband, Tony, all of Fayette, Julia Carter and Angela Carter, both of Natchez; eight brothers, Julis Carter and wife, Beatrice, Freddie Lee Carter and wife, Anita, all of Chicago, Leon Carter Jr. and wife, Martha, Claude Albert Carter and wife, Edna, Roosevelt Carter, Allen Curtis Carter and wife, Jerry Dean, all of Fayette, Anthony Carter and wife, Kristina, and Vincent Carter, all of Natchez; two sisters, Marie Stampley of Roxie and Debra Stampley of Chicago; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
