Get ready for new school year Friday
Published 12:03 am Wednesday, July 13, 2011
Parents and students have an opportunity to attend “A Day in the District” for their school related needs.
Our annual “one stop shop” will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in the Steckler Multipurpose complex on Liberty Road, behind Natchez High School.
The district strongly encourages parents to take advantage of this event for the 2011-2012 school year registration.
The concept of “A Day in the District” is to provide efficient and convenient service to parents.
The event will allow parents to register all children grades K-12 and complete a lunch application.
Parents can also receive information about dress codes, school supplies, class schedules, attendance, parent centers, PTA, extra-curricular activities, staffing, school activities and more.
Parents must bring two proofs of residence, such as a utility bill or driver’s license
The free lunch application will be available during this event. Parents must complete a new form each year in order for students to receive free or reduced lunches. Applications are computer generated to speed the process of free lunch eligibility. Parents need to complete one application per household with all children’s names at the top of the form.
You may contact Shantoura Spears, child nutrition supervisor at 601-445-2816 for more information on free and reduced lunches.
Come out and receive information about each school in the district and to determine which school your children will be attending for the 2011-2012 school year.
Once again parents, please remember to complete a lunch application.
If you have any questions about “A Day in the District,” you contact Marilyn Alexander-Turner in the Office of Federal Programs at 601-445-2828, or me at 601-445-2988.
