JONESVILLE — Services for Vernon Franklin “Frank” Chapman, 81, of Jonesville, who died Monday, July 11, 2011, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lake Lilly Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Bass and the Rev. Lester Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at Jena Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Chapman was born Sept. 16, 1929, the son of Joseph Calvin Chapman and Bessie Alice Chapman. He retired from International Paper Company after 42 years of service.
Mr. Chapman was a member of Lake Lilly Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Catherine Jean Chapman; four brothers, Albert Chapman, Herbert Chapman, J.C. Chapman Jr. and Ezra Chapman; two sisters, Helen Andrews and Shirley Amelunke; and one son-in-law, Dwayne Knapp.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Hazel Chapman; one son, Frankie Chapman Jr. and wife, Pam, of Manifest, La.; two daughters, Dianne Knapp of Denham Springs, La., and Johnnie Montpelier and husband, Lionel, of Jonesville; three brothers, Clifton Chapman of Vidalia, Byron Chapman and wife, Darlene, of Mississippi and Barry Chapman and wife, Roxanne, of Monterey; one sister, Velma Lea Palmer and husband, Burl, of West Monroe, La.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Dwayne Knapp Jr., Lionel Montpelier Jr., Jason Montpelier, John Knapp, Ted Stephenson and Josy Poole.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Lake Lilly Baptist Church.
