NATCHEZ — Services for Eddie L. Swayze, 57, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at his residence, will be at noon Wednesday at Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ricky O’Quinn officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery in Garden City under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Swayze was born Jan. 11, 1953, in Natchez, the son of Clarence Swayze and Marie Hall Swayze. He was employed by Quaker Oat Company as a laborer. He was Baptist.
Mr. Swayze enjoyed fishing, playing pool, music and celebrating life with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include two children, Antoine Mearday and Lekeitha RaShawn Luster; two grandchildren; three brothers, Riley Swayze and wife, Clara, of Cedar Rapids, Louis Swayze and Fird Swayze and wife, Laura, all of Natchez; eight sisters, Mamie Washington, Doris Holmes, Cassie Elery, Shirley Elery, Georgia Dobbins and husband, Milton, all of Natchez, Bimkubwa Davis and husband, Clyde, Dazie Swayze, Sarah Swayze and husband, Darel, all of Cedar Rapids; and a number of other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Darnel Henderson, Curtis Swayze, Louis Holmes, George Holmes, Larry Swayze and Artie Henderson.
