NATCHEZ — A garage sale has led to the arrest of two former Natchez residents.
Natchez Police Sgt. Craig Godbold said Jerry L. Dyess, 41, and Teresa O’Neal Dyess, 36, both of 4502 Camp Joy Road, Haughton, La., had been renting a house in the downtown area that was fully furnished.
“When they moved out, they had a garage sale,” Godbold said. “They got rid of everything.”
Once the original homeowner realized the former tenants had sold everything from the house, the homeowner pressed charges.
After selling everything in March, the couple moved to Bossier City, La., Godbold said and were not arrested and charged with grand larceny until Monday.
Godbold said both were listed in the National Crime Information Center and when Teresa Dyess was pulled over for a routine traffic stop in Bossier City, her name came up that she was wanted in Natchez on grand larceny charges.
Godbold said Jerry Dyess came to bail Teresa Dyess out and he was arrested for his warrant for grand larceny then, too.
Both have been charged with grand larceny and are being held on a $7,500 bond at the Natchez Police Department.
