KIRBY — Services for Irma Pearl Hankins Gant, 65, of Meadville, who died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Kirby.
Burial will follow at Hunt Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Gant was born Feb. 26, 1945, in Meadville, the daughter of Walter and Carrie Jackson Hankins. She was employed by Mississippi Action for Progress/Headstart as a nutritionist for a number of years. She was also a licensed cosmetologist and a certified nurse assistant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Corey Gant; maternal grandparents, Jerry Jackson and Sylvia Jackson King; paternal grandparents, Abraham and Elnora Hankins; father and mother-in-law, Judge and Berdie Brown and Hebert Gant; and three brothers-in-law, Curtis Hunt, Ronnie Brown and Jerry Brown.
Survivors include a loving husband, George Gant Sr.; nine daughters, Theresa Bee, Sylvia Cain, Constance Gant, OraLee Johnson, Susan Gant, Deidre Thompson and husband, John, Berdie Gant, Tamara Gant and Zkendra Gant; three sons, George Gant Jr. and wife, Shelia, Derrick Gant and wife, Loretta, and Eric Gant; two sisters, Aletha Hunt and Gwen Seymour and husband, David; one brother, Jerry Hankins and wife, Nell; one daughter-in-law, LaWanda Jackson Gant; 32 grandchildren; eight sisters-in-law; seven brothers-in-law; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
