VIDALIA — Additional charges have been filed against the two teens who were arrested in connection with several area burglaries in December.
Sam Walker, 19, 221 Virginia Ave., Vidalia, and Shawn M. Ward, 18, 124 Plum St., Ridgecrest, were booked Tuesday at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of attempted unauthorized use of an access card as theft.
Ward was also charged with unauthorized use of an access card as theft.
The new charges resulted from an ongoing investigation into the burglaries for which they were initially arrested.
Walker and Ward allegedly tried to use an access card at a local bank and two businesses during the incident, according to a statement from the CPSO.
One of those transactions was reportedly successful, according to the statement.
The two suspects were arrested by the CPSO Dec. 10 after they allegedly burglarized two vehicles at a Green Acres Road residence.
Items taken during that burglary included cash, credit cards, a wallet with personal identification and a stereo system.
The two suspects were also later charged by the Vidalia Police Department for five burglaries that happened in the Jackson Court neighborhood in Vidalia that same day.
Those burglaries included three vehicle and two residential burglaries, and according to Vidalia police, at that time the items taken included a high-powered rifle, a pistol, jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The two suspects were being detained on bond at the time the new charges were filed against them.
With the new charges, Walker’s bond is now set at $107,500 and Ward’s bond is $127,500.
