Natchez — Several years ago, David and Betty Paradise made a long-term commitment to the United Way of the Greater Miss-Lou by pledging $5,000 a year for five years. They challenged others in the community to do likewise.
They are reminding our community of their challenge as we face trying economic times and find more of our neighbors and friends may need help.
David and Betty have put out a challenge to individuals and corporations in the Miss-Lou to step up to their challenge and make a similar commitment to support the United Way in the coming years. Such commitments will provide the organization with the foundation to continue to help those in need.
In speaking of the United Way, David said, “People who contribute have to see a connection in their own community. A Warren Buffett isn’t going to give some of his billions to Natchez because he doesn’t have a connection. I give because I know personally the people who benefit. The money stays here and helps our neighbors.”
