Flotilla preparations under way

The Lake St. John Flotilla theme this year will be “It’s five o’clock somewhere.”
Enter your boat or pier and enjoy the blessing of the flotilla on Saturday, July 3.
The event will start at 3 p.m. at the north end of the lake, near Tom Bell’s property.
The parade will be led by Sheriff Randy Maxwell. Pier judging will be at noon.
The parade is open to anything that floats and can maintain parade speed.
Competing boats must register for $12 between 5 and 8 p.m., Friday, July 2 at Neely’s Spokane Resort or between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.
The categories will include, large craft patriotic and large craft non-patriotic; small craft; pier judging; and overall winner.
The prizes will include the coveted Lake St. John Flotilla champion flag, cash, life rings, plaques, boating and lake accessories, gift certificates and more.
Drawings throughout the flotilla will award many other prizes for all registered vessels. Prizes will be awarded from the deck of Neely’s Spokane Resort.
Public viewing will be from Spokane, Duck’s Nest II and The Dock.
