MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) —The historic Delta Queen paddle boat is going to Chattanooga for use as a waterfront boutique hotel.
It was decommissioned as a passenger carrier in October in Memphis.
The Commercial Appeal quoted officials Tuesday as saying it will be moored in Chattanooga at Coolidge Park Landing in the downtown waterfront area. It has most recently been tied up in New Orleans.
The Delta Queen’s last port of call as a passenger ship was Memphis. It has 87 cabins and is a National Historic Landmark.
It lost its longtime U.S. Coast Guard exemption to carry overnight guests late last year because of its wooden superstructure.
