LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — The last of three inmates who escaped from a Louisiana prison at Kinder surrendered after calling federal marshals.
Cecil Stratton, 29, of Berwick gave himself up late Friday and was taken to the Lafayette Parish jail, authorities said.
Stratton, Daniel Reeder, 24, of Shreveport and Troy Hargrave, 32, of Crowley were missing at Monday’s 6 a.m. head count at the privately run Allen Correctional Center. Reeder and Hargrave were serving time for manslaughter, while Stratton was imprisoned on burglary and theft convictions.
After allegedly carjacking an SUV in Berwick on Monday, Reeder led police on a brief chase from Shreveport into Bossier City, hundreds of miles to the north, but was stopped on a dead end street and taken into custody.
Hargrave surrendered Wednesday to an off-duty sheriff’s deputy in Iberville Parish.
A guard at the state prison, Jesse Jordan, 19, of Glenmora, was booked Monday night on three counts of assisting escape and one of malfeasance.
Stratton’s sister, Sedonia Marie Stratton, of Berwick, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant accusing her of three counts of assisting escape. Authorities have refused to say exactly what she did.
