FERRIDAY — An apparent dispute over a woman reportedly led to the stabbing of a local man Monday.
Willie Brown, 54, 107 Gremillion St., was arrested by the Ferriday Police Department on charges of aggravated battery.
Brown and the victim, a 20-year-old male, had reportedly been feuding over a woman in recent days, Police Chief Kenneth Hedrick said.
The police responded to the call at approximately 12:45 p.m. at Graham’s Jiffy Mart on E.E. Wallace Boulevard.
Brown was at the store when the victim arrived, and when the victim went inside, Brown reportedly waited at the victim’s vehicle outside, Officer Ashley Magee said.
When the victim went back to the truck, an altercation reportedly followed in which the two men ended up fighting on the ground, Magee said.
Brown allegedly tried several times to stab the victim before stabbing him once in the forehead with a knife, Magee said.
The victim was taken to a local hospital by private means and was treated, and Brown was arrested at his home later that afternoon, Magee said.
Brown was detained without bond Tuesday.
