Jackson State beats Alcorn State 81-65

LORMAN (AP) — Grant Maxey scored 21 points to lead Jackson State to an 81-65 victory over Alcorn State on Saturday night.
Maxey was 9 of 13 from the field for the Tigers (9-13, 8-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who extended their winning streak to four games. Jeremy Caldwell scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Darrion Griffin had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Garrison Johnson added 10 points for Jackson State, which led 37-27 at halftime and shot 51 percent from the field for the game.
Troy Jackson, the SWAC’s leading scorer with 20.9 points per game, finished with 22 points on 7-of-17 shooting for the Braves (4-19, 2-8).
In the second half, the Tigers outscored Alcorn State 44-38.
Jackson State also outrebounded the Braves 42-25. Alcorn State shot 37 percent from the field.
Alcorn State’s next game is Tuesday night at home against the Grambling State Tigers.
