Get ready for the big bangs

The sparks have aligned for quite a boom this Fourth of July weekend.
After a near burnout last year that ultimately landed the annual fireworks show on July 3, instead of July 4, area businesses have made sure this year’s show falls on the true holiday.
Toss in a little luck from the calendar, and the independence celebration should happily fill the weekend.
The Lake St. John community invites all area residents to join in its fun on Saturday, July 3 at the yearly flotilla and fireworks show.
Natchez and Vidalia will follow with exploding lights over the Mississippi River Sunday night.
Thanks go to area businesses that donated the needed funds in the absence of full budget support from the cities.
Maybe in the future tourism officials with the cities of Natchez and Vidalia will take on the project in its entirety, marketing patriotic fun in Natchez to surrounding communities. Planning now to get the newly formed community choir involved in a rousing round of American tunes at the Vidalia amphitheater could spice up next year’s holiday.
Community leaders have a year to plan for that though. In the meantime, let’s enjoy this year’s festivities, celebrate our great nation and come together as the great community that we are.
