JONESVILLE — Services for Elbern “Skinny” Brown, 88, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Rapides Regional Hospital in Alexandria, La., will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Joel Ford officiating.

Burial will follow at Heard Cemetery, in Manifest, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.

Visitation will be today at the church.

Mr. Brown was born Oct. 3, 1922, in Jonesville, the son of Richard Sylvester Brown and Rowena Estess Brown. He was a logger and a member of Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church.

Mr. Brown was former president of Sandy Lake Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Monroe, Elmo, Quincy, Darius and Troy Brown; and two sisters, Violet Tolbert and Hettie Smith.

Survivors include two sons, Leo Brown and wife, Susie, and Rolon Brown and wife, Pam, all of Jonesville; one daughter, Judy Frances and husband, Keith, of Marshall, Texas; two brothers, Roy Brown of Jonesville and O.J. Brown of Trout, La.; one sister, Phylisty Netherland of Jonesville; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Frances, Kevin Frances, Lance Frances, Brent Brown, Clay Hollie and Kalub Hollie.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clayton Netherland, Tip Netherland and Kenneth Ford.
