JACKSON (AP) — The White House estimates the economic stimulus package will create or save about 30,000 jobs in Mississippi over the next two years.
Preliminary figures from the Federal Funds Information for States showed Mississippi is in line to receive nearly $2.3 billion from the $787 billion legislation.
A separate state-by-state breakdown released by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shows Mississippi will receive about $415 million for infrastructure improvements.
President Barack Obama was in Denver Tuesday and signed into law the legislation, a mix of tax cuts and spending programs.
The White House says the stimulus package is expected to create or save 3.5 million jobs over the next two years.
