JACKSON (AP) — Mississippi Public Broadcasting’s network of eight stations was turning off its analog broadcasts at midnight Tuesday, even though the date for the changeover to all-digital signals was pushed back to June.
Some commercial stations across Mississippi also were making the switch this week, said Jackie Lett, president of the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters.
MPB’s network includes WMPN in Jackson, WMAH in Biloxi, WMAE in Booneville, WMAU in Bude, WMAO in Greenwood, WMAW in Meridian, WMAB in Starkville (Mississippi State University) and WMAV in Oxford (University of Mississippi).
Low-power stations do not have to convert to digital.
