LUMBERTON (AP) — Pearl River County Sheriff David Allison says a 46-year-old woman is accused of paying her son $1,000 to kill her 61-year-old boyfriend.
Barbara Cameron of Lumberton and her 26-year-old son, Max Weldon of Yazoo City, are being held on $1 million bond each in the death of Clyde Daniels II.
A judge increased the charges against them Wednesday from murder to capital murder.
Cameron called the sheriff’s office a month ago. She said she had heard loud noises while she was in the shower and came out to find Daniels’ body on their front porch.
An affidavit filed in Pearl River County Circuit Court, a polygraph test indicated that she had lied about being involved in the killing and about tampering with evidence.
The sheriff said Friday that Daniels had fired Weldom months earlier.
