NATCHEZ — Services for Mary Elizabeth Whitehead, 86, of Natchez, who died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Brewer and the Rev. Andy McDaniel officiating.

Burial will follow at Roxie Cemetery under the Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Whitehead was born Dec. 19, 1924, in Providence, La., the daughter of Lee Christian Powell and Nancy Christine Heflin Powell. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and the Mary/Martha Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Whitehead was a retired assistant optometrist.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Leon Whitehead; one son, Dale Powell Whitehead; one sister, Virginia Andrews; and stepfather, Homer Oglesby.

Survivors include one son, Malcolm Whitehead and wife, Carolyn, of Natchez; one daughter, Pamela Damon and husband, Denny, of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Todd Whitehead, Lezzlie Hornsby, Trey Hornsby and Zack Damon; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Todd Whitehead, Trey Hornsby, Zack Damon, Dean Andrews, Ronnie Andrews and Kyle Hazlip.
