NATCHEZ — A 13-year-old Robert Lewis Middle School student died Thursday after passing out at the school.

Jamie Lewis was taken by ambulance to Natchez Community Hospital from Robert Lewis Middle School, where she initially collapsed after leaving one of the school’s bathrooms.

Adams County Coroner James Lee said while Lewis was responsive when she left the school, she became unresponsive once at the hospital and later died.

Lee said he was unable to determine a cause of death for Lewis.

“She doesn’t really have a significant medical history for me to determine a cause of death,” Lee said.

Lee said even after consulting with one of the hospital’s ER doctor’s he was not able to determine the girl’s cause of death. An autopsy will be performed.
