From green to clean, the last week has been a busy one in the Miss-Lou.

Locals, Irish and Irish for the day, started off the week celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with a walking parade in Downtown Natchez. Beautiful weather welcomed the walkers, and the event was fun for all.

And Saturday, volunteers spent time cleaning the streets of Ferriday in preparation for a cleanest city contest.

But the week brought more than that. Let’s review some of the good news from last week.

4 Trinity Episcopal student Connor Mire is headed to the Mississippi Private School Education Association state spelling bee to show his stuff.

Good luck to Connor. You are already a winner for our community.

4 A retired dentist made a visit to Ferriday Lower Elementary this week to see some smiles. The dentist is funded through a grant program that will ultimately put teeth sealants on children’s teeth to prevent decay.

4Hostesses from all over the country filled Rosalie Thursday afternoon to greet tourists. Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution from other states worked at the DAR-owned house. We are glad the women were able to enjoy something that has become a part of our daily lives.

4 Family members and historians alike got the chance to tour a newly spruced up Watkins Street Cemetery Sunday to celebrate the site’s 100th anniversary. This site is important to the history of Natchez, and we are glad it is getting some much-needed attention.

Beautiful days and blooming flowers are sure to welcome us in the week to come, and we know good news won’t be far behind.
