VIDALIA — The Bunkie Panthers broke a scoreless ball game with seven runs in the top of the third inning en route to a 12-2 win over the Vidalia Vikings Monday night in the District 3-3A opener for both teams.

Vidalia was looking to build on its momentum after defeating Franklin Parish Saturday at the Vidalia Invitational. Instead, the Vikings played more like they have for much of the season, committing five errors. They did not score their first run until the bottom of the sixth inning.

Bunkie got a two-run home run from Hayden Passin in the top of the third inning and the Panthers never looked back from that point. They also got a two-run home run from Blake Quik in the top of the sixth inning that gave them a commanding 10-0 lead.
