NATCHEZ — Wednesday night’s storms left some Adams County roads covered by downed trees and fewer than 100 Entergy customers without power.

Entergy Customer Service Manager Stephen Caruthers said all but a handful of customers without power Thursday afternoon should have power by today.

Adams County Emergency Management Director Stan Owens said county roads like, Kingston, Duck Pond and Pinemount Roads, had all been cleared of debris by the county’s road crew.

And now that cleanup from Wednesday’s weather is done, Owens is cautioning city and county residents to brace for Friday night’s storms.

“People need to keep a look out on what the weather’s going to be doing,” Owens said.

Tonight’s storms will be capable of spawning tornadoes and producing hail, National Weather Service Meteorologist Eric Carpenter said.

Those storms will be in the area from noon until midnight with the most severe weather being in the early evening, Carpenter said.

Owens said in the event of a tornado residents should seek shelter in a doorway, hallway or an interior room and avoid areas with windows if possible.

“And those living in mobile homes should seek other shelter,” he said. “They cannot offer any protection.”

Caruthers said additional crews are south of Natchez and on standby in the event of more widespread power outages.

“Right now were hoping for the best and preparing for the worst,” he said.
