vIDALIA — The Lake St. John Lake Commission has asked that there be no recreational boating on the lake until further notice.
The request was made following a meeting Friday, according to Commission President Tom Bell.
Sheriff Randy Maxwell reiterated the Lake Commission’s advisory, adding that boaters are also being asked to avoid Lake Concordia for the next few days.
“We’re asking all fishermen and recreational boaters to refrain from going out on the water just for a few days in order to protect property,” Maxwell said.
Recent storms bringing heavy rain have caused the lakes to rise significantly, threatening damage to piers and property all around the lake.
The Sheriff’s Office will notify the public as soon as the request is lifted.
