NHS boys finish first, girls finish third in Vicksburg relays

VICKSBURG — The Natchez High track and field team enjoyed a successful day at the Coca-Cola Relays in Vicksburg on Saturday.

The girls team finished third overall while the boys team finished in first place.

The star for the girls team was Jessica Gails, who was named MVP of the girls meet.

Gails finished first in the 100 meters, second in the 200 meters and third in the 400 meters.

She was also a member of the 400 meter relay team that finished in third place.

Other standouts on the girls team were Alicia Wimley, who took first place in the 200 and 400 meter runs and the triple jump, and LaMesha Anderson, who finished first in the 300-meter hurdles.

The standout for Natchez High in the boys meet was Wesley Pendleton.

Pendleton finished in first place in the 100, 200 and 400 meter runs and was also a member of the 400 meter relay team that finished in first.

Two of the relay teams finished in first place in their races, with the 100-meter relay team winning as well.

Members of the 100-meter relay team were Rico Richardson, Ernest Jones, Jeremy Davis and Willie Newman.

Members of the winning 400-meter relay team were Joseph Perry, Pendleton, Jones and Rolando Prater.

Richardson also finished first in the triple jump event.

The Natchez boys and girls track teams will be back in action Saturday at Mississippi College.
