Pow wow, bikers cap off good news

A busy weekend wrapped up a good week in the Miss-Lou.
The annual Powwow at the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians survived soggy grounds, and bikers filled our streets Saturday for Project Independence Ride for Autism’s fundraiser.
But let’s review some of the good headlines last week brought as well.
4 Natchez native Plezetta West made us proud and took home the big bucks on Wheel of Fortune Monday night. The current New Orleans resident won more than $120,000.
4 Louisiana Technical College in Ferriday is planning for some improvements. State money should allow for new classroom space and building expansions. The growing campus needs more room, and we hope they get it soon.
4 Janicia Sago, Chris Franklin, Alethea Stewart, Sara Davis, Nicole Williams and Edwin Smith — members of the Natchez High choir — were recently chosen for the Delta State University Honor Choir and the Allstate Honor Choir. Congratulations to these students and the always-successful NHS choir.
4 Approximately 400 social workers filled the city last week for The National Association of Social Workers conference. The visitors brought money to town and we were happy to host them.
4And the City of Natchez has a new plaque for its wall. Water Works’ water sample placed second in the state during the annual conference. Drink up!
With a week of storms behind us, we are ready for great temperatures, blue skies and plenty of good news.
