Ferriday track team finishes in third place; misses out on victory by 9 points

DALE, La. — The Ferriday Trojans track team finished third place in the Dale High School Track Meet Thursday, narrowly missing out on a victory.
Oak Grove won the event with 94 points and Rayville was second with 92. Ferriday was third with 85 points.
Gary Mayes was the big winner for Ferriday. Mayes finished first in the 1,600-meter run and the 800-meter run. He was also the runner-up in the 3,200 meter run.
The other first place finisher for Ferriday was Kendall Boxley in the triple jump.
Boxley also finished third in the 1,600-meter run and fourth in the 400-meter sprint.
The 100-meter relay team of Neico Amado, Devonte Scott, Julius White and Marques Lewis finished in second place while the 400-meter relay team of Amado, Boxley, Lewis and CuRaine Thompson was in third place.
The Trojans will compete in the District 2-2A track meet next week. The event will take place at Sterlington High School.
