Wilkinson County prison hosts community meeting

Woodville — Corrections Corporation of America and Wilkinson County Correctional Facility recently had its first quarter community relations meeting.

Among the guests were Industrial Board President Thomas Tolliver and board member Wanda Fountain, Mercy Project Boys & Girls Club President Kenyon Jackson, Superintendent of Education Timothy Scott and Board President Charlie Floyd and his wife, Madeline, bank officials, Wilkinson County Aldermen Gene Lofton, Carl D’Aquila and Mary West, advisory board member Jessie Stewart, Wilkinson County School attendance Officer Edward Anthony Jr., MPIC Anthony Ingram, MDOC Contract Monitor Larry Lee, Wilkinson County Purchaser Sandra Christmas, local business owners Rosemary Spell, Mabel Clark and James Anderson of Natchez, the Rev. James Hardy, Wilkinson County work center staff members and other county officials.

The meeting highlighted of the quality assurance department, the effectiveness of great leadership and attaining excellence.

Establishing and maintaining departmental documentation records and assuring standards are met and reports are submitted in a timely manner are some of the many tasks handled daily. Remaining professional and reacting quickly under high stress is a learned skilled and one that Quality Assurance Manager Emma Taplin possess because the environment demands such every day.

Reaction and delivery is key to an effective performance and it also determines the level of comprehension communicated to each department. Each department head has enabled Taplin to transform into a great leader and team player.

The distinguished guests were entertained with door prizes crafted by the students enrolled in vocational programs offered at the facility.

WCCF host four community relations meetings per year with the participation from community leaders.

“It is always our pleasure to host and entertain our community. These meetings also give us the chance to acknowledge the staff members and their accomplishments as well as informing the community of latest developments in corrections,” said Warden, Jacquelyn Banks.
