Scooby-Doo to visit Natchez

NATCHEZ — “Scooby-Doo, Where are you?” just won’t be a necessary question Monday night.
Scooby-Doo — or at least his voice — will be at the Fun Tunnel in the Natchez Mall from 6 to 8 p.m.
Scott Innes, who has been a voice of Scooby-Doo for 13 years, will be signing copies of his book “Cartoons & Country Music: My life in the shadow of a dog.”
All proceeds from the sale of his book and other cartoon products that will be on sale at the event go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and United Special Sportsman Alliance.
Innes said he just feels its his responsibility to give back after a successful career doing cartoon voiceovers, radio shows and music.
“The Lord has blessed me in many ways,” he said. “St. Jude, you can’t beat an organization that helps children with cancer. I’ve been married to this hospital for over 25 years.”
Innes has voiced over five Scooby-Doo animated motion pictures, and his voice was in the first “live-action” Scooby-Doo movie in 2002, his Web site says. He has voiced over 1,000 talking Scooby-Doo items such as toys and video games, which have been sold worldwide.
Many of those items will be on sale Monday.
But the most exciting thing may be hearing Innes talk.
“The parents get a bigger kick out of it than the children,” Innes said. “It’s a retro cartoon, and the parents feel comfortable because they watched this. You should just see the parents giggle.”
Anyone who can’t make it Monday can purchase the book online at www.scottinnes.com. Full proceeds from online sales will also go to charity.
The book — though not designed as a children’s book — is kid friendly, Innes said.
The first 50 children present Monday night will receive a Scooby-Doo license plate.
