Swing your clubs for United Way

Hey duffers — looking for some fun on a Friday at a great venue?

Then grab your clubs and come join us for the 16th annual United Way Golf Scramble on Friday at beautiful Beau Pré Country Club. It’s a great way to have some fun while helping the United Way of the Greater Miss-Lou raise funds to support local agencies that serve persons and families who are economically and socially vulnerable. We are most grateful for the golf tourney primary sponsorship of the Isle of Capri, with secondary sponsorship by Southwest Distributors, and greatly appreciate all of the other local businesses who are sponsoring teams, donating door prizes and making significant dollar donations.

But we urge others to join — it’s not too late.

Here are the golf tourney details: platinum sponsorship is $700 and includes the closing reception and hole sponsorship, plus fielding a four-person team. Gold sponsorship is $400 and includes reception and hole sponsorship and fielding a two-person team. Silver sponsorship is $225 and includes one entry and one hole sponsorship. Hole sponsorships are $100. Individuals can enter the scramble for $125. This entry fee covers lunch, green and cart fees, range balls and the closing reception. Individual players will be assigned to play on a team. Mulligans may be purchased at $10 each.

This is a great way to give your organization marketing visibility while helping a worthy cause.

The day begins with lunch being served from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. shotgun start. At the end of the scramble, we will host an awards reception with refreshments and prizes for categories such as best team score, longest drive, closest to the hole, a vehicle for the golfer who manages a hole in one. Believe us, there will be plenty of door prizes.

Remember, the United Way Golf Scramble supports the agency’s purpose to develop a strong volunteer-driven organization that champions effective donor-based programs that enhance the quality of life for all residents of the Miss-Lou. Our goal is to move them from dependency to productivity, thus becoming contributing members of society. The United Way also supports programs that enhance the quality of life in the area, such as recreation for youth, emergency preparedness for all, counseling and transportation for the aging, and other social and health services.
