FERRIDAY – Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at 11 a.m., at The Harvest Baptist Church in Ferriday, LA, for Johnnie “YIYE” McMorris, 87, of Ferriday, who passed on Jan. 20, 2025, peacefully at home with her family. Rev. Abriby Lunby will be officiating.

Burial will follow at the Doty Road Church of God Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Johnnie Lee Smith McMorris was born on Feb. 26, 1937, in Natchez, the daughter of Eldon and Katie Smith.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Fred McMorris; three sisters, Essie R. Smith, Mable France Hawkins, Lena Mae Stewart; one brother, James Henry Smith; two grandsons, Nagee McMorris, and Earl Lyles Jr.; one granddaughter, Myshae Renee Jefferson; one great-grandson, Davion Smith; and one special friend, Wilbert Jones.

Johnnie is survivors by her six daughters, Katie R. Myles (Freddie Duhe) of Carterville, GA;  Gloria Mason (Melvin), Janice Spurlock (James), and  Essie McMorris, all of Ferriday; Amanda J. Arceneux of  Houston, TX;  Katie Lewis (Jerry) of  Atlanta, GA; five sons, Eldon Smith (Eva) of Augusta, GA; Frank Smith (Shelly) of St. Joseph, LA; Earl Lyles (Lawanda) and Norman McMorris, both of Ferriday; and Samuel Hawkins of  Bunky, LA; three special granddaughters, Evelyn Whitley of Greensboro, NC; Queia Laquee, of Virginia, Amanda McMorris both Ferriday; one special grandson, Khalil Lakette of Atlanta, GA; thirty-nine grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
