RED LICK – Funeral services for Lamar A. Braxton Sr., 90, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, in Natchez, will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at 11 a.m. at East Mount Olive Baptist Church in Red Lick with Rev. Tracy Collins officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Christian Church Cemetery in Claiborne County under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, from 5 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Lamar was born in Red Lick, MS on May 30, 1934, the son of Hannah O’Quinn and Ellis Braxton. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Alcorn State University and his Master of Science degree from Tennessee State University. Mr. Braxton was the former CEO of AJFC Community Action Agency. He was a member of East Mount Olive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lee J. Braxton; sisters, Mildred B. Jones, Virginia B. Robinson, and Velma B. Watts; and brothers, Milton Braxton and James Edward Braxton.
Lamar’s memories will be forever cherished in the lives of his son, Lamar Braxton Jr.; sisters, Juanita B. Jenkins and Wilhelmenia Braxton; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
