BROOKHAVEN – Funeral services for Lourrie Nell Middleton Flowers Johnson, 83, of Bude, MS, who passed away on Jan. 1, 2025, will be held on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at Mary Temple Church of God In Christ Brookhaven at 2 p.m. with Rev. Anthony Norwood officiating under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Roxie, MS.
Visitation services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Lighthouse Center in Meadville, MS, and on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, from 1 p.m. until the service time at the church.
Lourrie, affectionately known as “Lynell”, was born on Feb. 28, 1941, in Bude, MS, to John A. Middleton Sr. and Ellen R. Middleton. She was a member of the National Association of Young Children; she was a teacher for Headstart “Mississippi Action for Progress” where she taught for many years.
Lourrie “Lynell” was preceded in death by her parents, John Sr., and Ellen R. Middleton; six sisters, Mary Louise Harris, Dessie Middleton, Mae Catherine English, Beriteal White, Johnnie B. Middleton, and Jessie B. Ashley; and one brother, C. L. Middleton.
Lourrie “Lynell” leaves to cherish her memories, her five children, Curtis L. Flowers, Raymond R. Flowers, Richmond R. Flowers and wife, Jessica, Harold A. Flowers Jr., and Stephanie D. Flowers Cameron; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Flowers, Justin Flowers, Riccon Cameron and wife, Dorothy, Johnthyn Cameron, Romalice Flowers, Jamarius Flowers, Je’Mond Flowers, and Aluiva Flowers; nine siblings, Cora L. Jackson, John A. Middleton Jr. and wife, Ann, Arthur Lee Middleton, Lyvonne Anderson and husband, Edward “Sam”, Willie L. Middleton, Charles E. Middleton and wife, Linda, Linda J. Marshall, and husband, Everett Sr. and Michael L. Middleton; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
