VIDALIA, La. — Joshua Bradly Smith of Vidalia has today been indicted in the 7th Judicial District by a Grand Jury for sexual crimes against juveniles.
Concordia Parish Sheriff David Hedrick said the Grand Jury returned a True Bill with the following charges: three counts of first-degree rape, two counts of molestation of a juvenile under 13, one count of indecent behavior with juveniles, four counts of sexual abuse of an animal, 20 counts of pornography involving juveniles and 77 counts of video voyeurism.
In a news release, Hedrick thanked the District Attorney’s Office, The Children’s Advocacy Center, and the Camden Arkansas Police Department for their assistance in this case.
On Aug. 9, the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crime Unit began investigating a complaint of a hidden camera set up where multiple juveniles were being filmed in a bathroom, authorities said.
Search warrants were submitted to electronic service providers, helping authorities identify Smith as a suspect. Further search of Smith’s residence in Vidalia uncovered additional evidence on an electronic device found in the home, including child sexual abuse material.
As the investigation continued, more victims were identified, CPSO stated.
As detectives worked to process digital evidence, which can be time-consuming, Smith received more charges.
Anyone arrested is presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
