‘Let’s check the board’: Fayette native and social media star among nominees for NAACP Image award

FAYETTE – A Jefferson County native is among the nominees for a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Award.

Raeshanda Lias, the creator behind the 3-million follower social media handle @shopaif on TikTok and Instagram and the woman behind the “Let’s Check the Board” viral videos, has been nominated for the organization’s 2025 Outstanding Social Media Personality Of The Year award, which will be awarded at the NAACP Image Awards on February 22, 2025. The award will be selected by popular vote, and voting is open now.

Lias’ rise on TikTok and Instagram began in 2023, when a viral video she posted about Rihanna’s halftime performance at the Super Bowl gained over 1 million views in just 30 days. Since then, Lias has attracted a diverse following, of more than 3 million users across her platforms. She has been shared by high-profile celebrities, including Queen Latifah, and partnered with organizations like the Human Rights Campaign to amplify uplifting messages and advocate for social justice. Her work has been recognized by major outlets including The Washington Post, MSNBC, and national non-profits. She drew national attention as a spokesperson during the 2024 Biden-Harris campaign, and her influence extends far beyond social media to include event hosting, brand consulting, business mentorship, and championing important social causes.

Lias is a native of Fayette, a graduate of Jefferson County High School and of the University of Kentucky and a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to her social media work, she is the founder, President, and CEO of All is Fair in Love and Fashion, a Louisville-based boutique that has been offering custom apparel and styling services since 2012.
