FRANKLIN COUNTY — A Franklin County woman has been charged with second-degree murder following the death of her ex-husband on Friday, Dec. 13.

Sheriff Tom Tindle said FCSO arrested Kacie Deanne Woods, 28, for the shooting death of James Marshall Woods, 53, and charged her with second-degree murder. Her bond has been set at $300,000.

James Woods was fatally shot at approximately 12:37 p.m. on Friday in the area of Old Loop Road in Franklin County.

Kacie Woods told authorities she acted in self-defense and had been held for questioning immediately following the incident before being charged, Tindle said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
