FERRIDAY – Funeral services for Clara Turner Burns, 96, of Ferriday, who departed this earthly life on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, in Ferriday will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Harvest Baptist Church in Ferriday with Pastor Charles Chandler officiating.

Burial will follow in Turner Acres Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, from 7 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Clara was born on Aug. 23, 1928, the daughter of Eliza Matthews and Peter R. Turner, Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Burns enjoyed cooking, sewing, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, two brothers, three sons, and other relatives.

Clara leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Don H. Burns, Jr. (Rosemary) of Snellville, GA and Burl E. Burns, Sr. (Benedra) of Ferriday; one daughter, Altha B. Gardner of Ferriday; one brother, Wadell Turner (Willie Mae) of Natchez; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
