VIDALIA, La. — The Concordia Parish Police Jury, which typically meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month, will only meet once this month on Monday, Dec. 16.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Concordia Parish Courthouse meeting room, 4001 Carter St., Room 2. An agenda has not yet been posted and is typically posted on Fridays before the scheduled meeting day.

The police jury typically meets only once in December, as the last typical meeting day would otherwise fall right around the Christmas holiday. Because the police jury only meets once this month, the board voted at the last meeting to change the date to the third Monday, which is Dec. 16.

The police jury is the governing body of Concordia Parish outside of the incorporated towns of Vidalia, Ferriday, Ridgecrest and Clayton.

The primary responsibilities of the police jury include the maintenance and operation of roads and bridges, drainage facilities, sewerage and water distribution systems, recreational facilities, public buildings and the financial support of the parish’s criminal justice system.  The police jury also adopts ordinances and resolutions to promote the general welfare of the parish.

Citizens may also come to meetings to receive public information and may comment only on agenda items.

The Natchez Democrat will provide an updated agenda for this meeting when it’s available. Additional information can be found at www.conppj.org.
