NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Catina Kayshel Bernard, 51, of Natchez, who died on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, in Zachary, LA, will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at noon at the Living Word Worship Center with Pastor Dwight Greene officiating.

Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Catina was born July 26, 1973, in Natchez, the daughter of Rita Bernard Brooks and Avel Powers. She was a graduate of Natchez High School, Class of 1991. She attended Mississippi College in Clinton where she majored in Graphic Design. Catina was a self-employed artist. She was a member of the Natchez Art Gallery. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, dancing, singing, and playing the clarinet.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents.

Catina leaves to cherish her memories: her parents, Rita Bernard Brooks and Avel Powers; brothers, Tyrus Bernard, Troy Brooks, Jr., and Avel Stewart; sisters, LaDonna Chatman and Tenacity Brooks; step-father, Troy Brooks, Sr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
